First Impressions: Nailing the Interview

MOCK INTERVIEW INFORMATION:
Kean University's Occupational Therapy Community Cares clinic will be running an event geared towards teens and young adults with disabilities looking to land a job! In order to make this mock interview the most real experience possible, here is some information to look at in order to research the school and department with whom you hope to find a job.

ABOUT KEAN UNIVERSITY

ABOUT EAST CAMPUS

The East Campus is the home of the Nathan Weiss Graduate College. In addition to meeting rooms and classrooms, the East Campus also houses the departments of Communication Disorders & Deafness, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Graduate Management Studies, and the Alumni House. The facility also houses Enlow Hall, which hosts recitals and performances. The building also contains a workout facility, gymnasium and Yumba Café, a contemporary eatery

OFFICE OF FACILITIES (MAINTENANCE WORKERS)

Kean began as a small school in Newark more than 150 years ago and now has a 150-acre campus. Today, Kean ranks as the third largest public university in the state. In recent years, Kean has transformed its buildings and services and prides itself on being in great condition. The Office of Facilities uses a cloud based software application called School Dude - Maintenance Direct. Anyone on campus can access and fill out a work request from any web capable device, from any location. Once the form is completed, the Head of Maintenance will assign the work request to one of the maintenance workers.

CAFE YUMBA

Cafe Yumba offers continuous dining with menu consisting of a wide array of healthy and nutritious items. It provides a relaxing atmosphere for the university community to escape the daily bustle of campus life.  Cafe Yumba offers a variety of gourmet soups, sandwiches and salads.


Hours of Operation:

Sunday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Friday: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.


OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY COMMUNITY CARES CLINIC

The Kean University OT Community Cares Clinic offers client-centered and holistic occupational therapy, consulting, wellness, advocacy and support services to assist individuals to actively participate in meaningful occupations within their chosen communities. We will promote health and wellness through education and high quality care that is visible, accessible and affordable to both the Kean and local communities.


Hours of Operation:

Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm


BARNES AND NOBLE

Welcome to the brand new Kean University Official Campus Bookstore at 1040 Morris Avenue (inside the Green Lane Academic Building).  The new store carries an expanded variety of Kean clothing and gifts, while maintaining our commitment to carrying your course book material needs.  We also feature a brand new Café proudly serving Starbucks coffees, and offering a variety of beverages, sandwiches, and snacks.


Hours of Operation:

Monday-Thursday: 8 am - 8 pm

Friday: 8 am - 6 pm

Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 4pm

New employees have a full 365 days to establish such residence, from the effective date of hire. Any new employee who believes they have a critical need to live out-of-state or that a move to a permanent residence in New Jersey would constitute a hardship, may request an exemption from the provisions of the law by appealing to a State committee responsible for hearing such appeals.
